Become a Freemason

A legendary brotherhood that has existed for centuries

There have always been people who wondered whether there might be more to discover than everyday life is willing to reveal. It is a feeling of not-knowing, sometimes even an emptiness within oneself. Even if that emptiness is only a feeling, it occupies the mind. It is something that is not easily put into words. It is something special. Just as special as our Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood of Freemasons

At the beginning, it is not so important to know what you are looking for – rather, it is an important step to begin searching at all.

Freemasonry is a bond of life and friendship in which philosophy, good conversation and solidarity play an important role. Love of humanity, tolerance and brotherly fellowship are the ideals that guide us.

And that is only the beginning…

There is one thing you should know: if you decide you want to become part of our brotherhood, your life will change – it is a decision for life. We know only too well how it feels to move through everyday life feeling lonely and lost, with no clear sense of what the world is really about. We want to reassure you: thousands of people before you – including many of us – have felt exactly the same way. We will walk alongside you and support you in filling your life with meaning and purpose. If you feel a little sceptical, we fully understand – the general public has access to very little concrete information about us. Many of our brothers have had great influence on history, not only in the fields of music, art or philosophy, but also in politics and world affairs. It should be noted that within the lodge we keep our distance from topics such as party politics and religious denominations.

Freemasonry is …

  • discreet
  • philosophical
  • fraternal
  • global and open-minded

Freemasonry is not …

  • a religion
  • a social club
  • an institution for career advancement
  • a political organization

Requirements

The Old Charges state that every “free man of good repute” may become a Freemason. Today this is understood to mean a man who maintains a good standing in society and is capable of making decisions independently and responsibly. Contrary to the common assumption that only academics or the wealthy have access to the brotherhood: this is absolutely not the case. Character and the will to continually improve oneself are what matter most. To make contact with us, the seeker should be at least 18 years old – though the actual age of admission is usually considerably higher. In our lodge, membership is open to men only. A woman can certainly become a Freemason, but not in our lodge.

  • Male
  • At least 18 years of age
  • A free man of good repute
  • Independent and responsible
  • Will to continuously improve oneself

For whom is Freemasonry — and for whom is it not?

Freemasonry is not for those who seek personal or professional advantages of any kind. Problems of a financial, social or political nature will not find a solution with us. You should be clear about what your WHY is and why you want to join the brotherhood.

Since Freemasonry represents a cross-section of society, our membership fees are manageable for every income level. The step of asking to be admitted, however, should be carefully considered. We want to get to know you – and you should get to know us, not just on the surface. To give both sides a fair chance, we hold guest evenings where we have enough time to introduce ourselves to each other. This process may well take a considerable amount of time.

Because yes, both sides must be in agreement.

The Path to Brotherhood

If you are serious and have stayed with us this far, be prepared for a long and challenging journey – one whose destination is more than worth it. You will find yourself among people who have made personal refinement their goal. For many brothers, joining the brotherhood was an elemental decision. Be assured: you too will experience a new quality of life – even if it is not easy to achieve, the effort is worth it.

That is what we want to tell you honestly.

Trust us: it feels good to be part of a tradition that has endured for centuries.
